Types of Rakats:

One rak’at consists of standing, bowing and two prostrations. Each prayer has its own rak’ats. According to the types, it has been divided into Fard, Sunnah and Nafil.

Obligation: These are the rak’ahs that are obligatory on Muslims in all circumstances. And paying them brings you closer to Allah.

Sunnah: There are two types of Sunnah, Sunnah Muqida and Sunnah Non Muqida. By not paying the Sunnah Muqidah, one gets a sin. And if the Sunnahs that are not valid are performed, then there is a reward; if they are omitted, then it is not a sin.

Nawafil: These are the rakats that a Muslim, if he performs, gets a reward for it. Their special thing is that if they want Muslims, they can perform more rakats than they want.

1. Fajr Namaz rakats

Rakaat: 2 Sunnah Muqidah, 2 Fard

Fajr prayer is very important because it starts the day with the name of Allah Almighty. That’s why man stays away from evil all day long. It is stated in the Holy Qur’an that “reciting the Qur’an in the morning is the time of testimony” (Qur’an 17:78).

Hazrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, (The 2 sunnahs of Fajr are better than the world and all the things in it. Sahih Muslim). And in the same way, it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever performs 2 rak’ahs of Fajr, he is under the protection of Allah.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

2. Zuhr Namaz rakats

Rakats: 4 Sunnah Muqadah, 4 Fardh, 2 Sunnah Muqadah and 2 Nawafil.

Zuhr prayer is offered during the day and it takes a Muslim out of the busyness of the day and brings him closer to Allah, thus a person gets some time of peace.

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said that whoever prays 4 rak’ahs before and after Zuhr, may Allah subhan wa ta’ala protect him from the fire of Hell. (Sunan Abu Dawood)

3. Asr Namaz rakats

Rakaat: 4 Sunnah non-Muqida, 4 Fard,

Asr prayer has a special importance in Islam. Asr prayer has also been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and in the blessed hadiths. Allah Subhan wa Taala says in the Qur’an, “Perform the prayers with safety, especially the middle prayer” (Qur’an 2:238). In this way, it is mentioned in the hadith Mubaraka that “the person who missed Asr prayer has lost his wealth and his family” (Sahih al-Bukhari).The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever performs the regular Asr prayer in congregation, he will be admitted to Paradise without reckoning” (Tirmidhi).

4. Maghrib Namaz Rakats

Rakaat: 3 Fard, 2 Sunnah Muqedah and 2 Nawafil.

Maghrib prayer time starts after sunset. At this time, Muslims thank Allah Almighty after finishing all the work of the day.

It was narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “My Ummah has remained in the good until they do not delay the sunset until the stars appear” (Sunan Ibn Majah).

5. Isha Namaz Rakats

Rakats: 4 Sunnah Non-Muqedah, 4 Fard, 2 Sunnah Muqedah, 2 Nafil, 3 Witr and 2 Nawafil.

The Isha prayer is the last of the obligatory prayers and is very important. It includes 3 witr rak’ahs which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never missed. In the Isha prayer, a believer gives thanks to Allah Almighty for all the blessings of the day and the night also passes peacefully.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever prays the Isha prayer in congregation, it is as if he had worshiped in the middle of the night.” (Sahih Muslim)

In another hadith, it is said that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Pray the prayer as if it were your last prayer.”

Conclusion:

Establishing prayer also gives many benefits along with obligation. Man gets spiritual peace. Man avoids evil. It causes peace of mind. It becomes the source of Allah’s love.

In Islam, there is a lot of reward for performing the prayer in the right way, so if a person is negligent in performing the prayer, then he also incurs a sin. Therefore, we should perform the prayer regularly and in the right way according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
